How can we farm smarter?
How can we farm smarter, that seems to be the question everyone is asking themselves lately and this is what I think the answer is. First off we could start by feeding our livestock the food that they are supposed to eat and give them the vitamins and nutrients they need that way we get the vitamins and nutrients we need from the meat. Second we can stop using fertilizers that are not all natural, they should not have anything added to make the crops grow any other way then they are naturally supposed too. Third we can stop injecting our meats with... anything we shouldn't inject anything in our meat, if it was supposed to be in the meet it would be, it can not be healthy. Finally we can stop spraying our crops, consumers just want to know what they are eating. Would you put any of the stuff put in our meets and on the crops straight into your body? no? didn't think so.
What are the advantages of modern agriculture?
Modern agriculture is something that was very important in the late twentieth century in order to supply food to the rapidly growing population.. In order to meet the demands for food to feed the growing population farmers had to find a way to grow more food. The only way to do this was to make the work easier so you could work more before exhausting yourself and doing the tasks faster. It was then that machines began making their appearance in the farming industry, they made the work easier and you could do the work faster, it was exactly what the farmers needed.
How has our food has changed?
Our food has been changing and changing drastically. Over the years everything has become bigger meats, fruit, vegetables, and breads etc. This is because our food now has many things added to it to make it bigger, last longer, grow faster, and taste better. we used to farm with pure all natural soils, now we use fertilizers and genetically modified seeds. We spray our crops with pesticides, herbicides MSG and more to stop animals from eating it and make them grow faster etc.
Our meat has definitely changed alot. The first thing that has changed it the diets of the animals that we consume, before cows used to eat grass now they eat corn because it is filling and cheap, but corn is low in vitamins and nutrients which means if the cows arnt getting the nutrients they need we probably arnt getting the ones we need from the beef. The second thing is that our meats are injected with steroids to make the meat bigger so that it is more appealing to the customer because it can feed more people. Meat companies try to say that this stuff is okay it doesn't make a difference and that its healthy but the number of people who are obese have tripled in the last 30 years.
A new thing that has become popular in the last fifty years is that processed food can now be frozen. A lot of people think this is the greatest thing ever because they can stock up on food on payday and save it and have it last a long time, but in reality this isn't good for you. This frozen food may taste good but when you think about it that frozen lunch your eating has been frozen for up to 9 months already that's gross! Also there are so many preservatives in that lunch that shouldn't be there, if they where supposed to be in there they would have been made with preservatives naturally. So next time when you have the choice between a hand made peanut butter sandwich and a frozen one, id choose the hand made one even if the crust isn't cut off in a cool way !

How has farming changed over the years?
The farming industry has changed in so many ways over the years. Not only has the equipment used evolve and change but the crops and soil themselves have changed as well as the techneques, the amount grown, and the time it takes. In some ways the chnages have been good but many are not benificial to the earth and the consumers health. In my opinion messing with natures natural cycles never ends up well.
In the early stages, farming was all done by hand, from the plowing and turning of the soil to the planting of the all natural seeds to the harvesting of the crops. Later farmers started using livestock to make the work easier which introduced animal pulled plows. Soon after, machines were introduced to the industry so that very little work had to be done by hand which ment the farms could be bigger which ment more crops. Eventually all farming was done by machine which sent the rest of the aspects of the industry in a fury of evolution.
After machines were made popular in the industry farmers realized that if they wanted to make a profit they would have to do something to make the crops grow bigger and faster. The solution was to spray the crops and soil with pesicides, steroids, and MSG. These things made it easier to transport crops and you could grow more faster. These things can not possible be good to consume.
So in conclusion the farming industry has changed so much to the extent that the food we eat now is not even the same food your grandparents ate when they were young. In my opinion when possible eat organic produce because even though it is more expensive and may not taste as good atleast you know what your putting in your body.
